Joy of Casting
. .

In 2010, the world's first zero-emissions foundry was opened by BMW Group in Landshut (Germany). CYRUS has been supporting the foundry for almost 2 years by reliably and successfully operating a system for the transport and pulverization of inorganic core sand and lumps. The annual processing of approximately 75,000 t light metal requires much more than just reliable operations. A highly detailed and professional concept plan and timely project management were amongst the key decision factors why BMW Group opted for CYRUS as a partner. With approximately 140 meters of vibrating trough conveyors, 3 lump crushers with automatic discharge of residual impurities, a magnet drum, 4 screening machines, 2 cleated side-wall belt conveyors, a tilting device and a shake-out grid, CYRUS linked both the core shop as well the cast/sand separation with the core sand processing plant.

We would be pleased to welcome you at our booth where you can get an impression of this important interface within the overall process at BMW.

Innovation in Recycling
. .

More than three million tonnes per annum of galvanised, thin-gauge scrap material in Germany include over 60,000 tonnes of zinc – or 10% of the total used. PROASSORT, a co-operation partner of CYRUS, develops pickling plant for new and old scrap with annual throughput of 150,000 tonnes per annum and higher. Pickled, in-line sorted steel scrap is thus converted to high-performance materials. Zinc is intelligently reclaimed in a highly economical process.
Dezincification of thin-gauge scrap plate opens up new horizons for the steel industry: thin-gauge plate from the automotive industry and zinc are now recyclable at the product level. Steelworks' can reuse their smelting dusts with high iron content – instead of sending them to landfill, as was previously the case. Stop by at our GIFA booth and learn more about this highly sustainable development.
